Show categories on the shop page

Q: Is there a way to show products categories in the same format as recent products (for example) on a (shop) page with a shortcode? I'd like to use the format in the screenshot but instead of name + price, just show categories.

A: First workaround solution:

• Use the Jigoshop Categories widget: Appearance > Widgets > Jigoshop Categories

A: Second workaround solution:

To create a page (it can be called "product categories") with thumbnails linking to each category - you can use a table for the layout.
Then, in Jigoshop setting, you can set the redirect shop page to the product categories page instead of the default shop page.
