Variations: How to enable?

Some of my products are available in three colors: Green, Blue, Black.

While entering the product information, I enter this in the Product Attributes, and tick the "Variation" box.

But on the front end side, with JigoTheme, these variations do not show up int he shopping cart as a dropdown box of three color options. Only the last one shows up as static text in the description of the product, not as a shopping selection for Add to Cart button.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Can you provide a link? It's hard to see what is happening without a glimpse of the site.

    Here's a simple question.

I want a product to be added to cart ONLY when a shopper has selected which variation of it. Without choosing the color of the product, it shouldn't be added to the cart at all.

    So:

    1. Where in the WP-ADMIN products page do I specify variations of one product?

    2. On the frontend, with JigoTheme theme, how should I show these variations as a dropdown right below or above the "Add to Cart" button?

    Thanks.

If I may, I think Shopp's implementation of Variations was very cool and simple:

    http://demo.shopplugin.net/wp-admin/admin.php?page=shopp-products&a...

    (Login with the admin account).

I could easily select the name of the variation (e.g. Color) and then enter the values of those variations really really easily. And then these automatically show up with the Add to Cart button.

I think I have this working in my own shop because that is exactly what we needed to do also. Let's say you have three sizes and two colors. You need to add a new variation & price combo for every single combination you want. For example: Size 2, Color 1 = Price A. Size 3, Color 1 = Price B. Size 1, Color 1 = Price C. Does that make sense? It's actually a pretty cool way of doing it because it will allow you to get really nitty gritty in your layout.

OK, I finally understand how Variations work. The need to "Update" first before the Variations actually appear is a little confusing to a product data entry person.

Now, still not working. What other non-intuitive step am I missing?

Attached is an image that shows my admin area.

But you can see on the link here that the Variation dropdown above the Add to Cart is empty: http://ubeni.net/shop/special-make-up-collection/

Use multiselects, don't use a custom product attribute. We're looking to do away with the custom product attributes sooner or later as it causes nothing but trouble.

Sorry, how to use multiselects? Because there's no documentation please bear with me:

    1. In Product --> Attributes, I create a new "Multiselect" thing called Color with the type as Multiselect.

    2. Then I go inside my product page, and remove the attribute called Color with the text values "1, 2, 3".

    3. Then what? I don't see any variation field where I can select the multiselect Color from #1 above.

Pls let me know what specifically are the steps to enable Variations. Actually I don't even need different prices and images for variations. Just a dropdown at the Add to Cart button.

And here's a picture. I've done the Multiselect bit. Now what? Where are the options?

There's documentation. I'm sorry you couldn't find it, but it's here. Let me know what we can do to make it more visible if you could.

Are you using Variable product type or Simple? I think you need to be using Variable in this case.

Yes I saw that page. It does not show me HOW/WHERE to add options to the Multiselect. Pls see my admin image. A multiselect box appears. Where should I add options to it? Clicking inside it does nothing. Now what?

    The product type is Variable.
