Personalise Product

Does anyone know if it is possible for a customer to personalize a product prior to ordering? i.e. can a text entry field be added to be filled in by the customer on the product page, with this information added to the cart.

Hi Jay, thanks for the quick response. Will this feature be part of the configurable products element you guys are working on? Just trying to see if this is on the radar?
As a small business we try to differentiate ourselves by offering personalised/engraved products - I think this is quite common for the smaller online stores- t shirts, jewelry etc.

This isn't part of configurable products (those are a set list of options). Let us know the specific requirements for this and Ill see if it can be added as a future module.

It's such a shame that you don't have a personalised text input area!!!! This is such a nice plugin which I'd really like to use! Is the feature available if I join the Jigoshop club?

Configurable products is still under active development and is evolving. The answer at the moment is no, it's just not available.

Lalu, while what everyone above said is correct, that it is not currently supported/available, it definitely is possible with Jigoshop with custom development. Myself and my partner have actually already achieved the goal of a fully customizable product with jigoshop, check out the "Customizable product" screenshot here http://jigoshop.com/topic/coffee-shop-beta/ . We are currently in the works to package it up into an easy to drop-in module for jigoshop which hopefully will be available at some point in the future.
If you have a programmer on your team though, it is definitely possible by modifying only a few parts of jigoshop core.

Please count me among those that want/need this capability from Jigoshop. I'm currently developing a jewelry website for a client and need the ability to allows users to personalize bracelets. The addition of a text field option to the product detail page is critical. Any idea when this will be added? Whether by an addition to the core via update or by extension plugin for a fee, I don't care. I just need it asap. Thanks.

Any update on the custom text input area to personalise a product? JIGO sounds great but uselss to me without a custom field/product personalisation input field.
