How to upgrade safely? ARRGGRH!
I need to update my Jigoshop version to the most recent one. The problem is I do not want to lose all of my prices etc. The forum seems littered with people that have had problems after upgrading. Can someone give me a verbal walk-through? I backed up the database and using the backupwordpress plug in, but I am unsure whether or not this would have included the jigoshop details?
Any help, massivelely appreciated.

The quick answer: It should. The other answer, there's no garuntees. What you really should do is backup your website using mutliple products...for instance:
WordPress Database Manager
BackupBuddy
WordPress's built in export function
The backup solution your host provides
etc etc
In addition, I would strongly recommend that you clone your server and create a test server using the clone and try the upgrade there first. I use http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicator/ to do this.
The best instructions for that is found here: http://wpmu.org/quickly-clone-and-migrate-wordpress-sites-with-the-...
Please be aware if you have modified any of Jigoshops core files, those changes WILL be lost on upgrade. In addition, if your theme does not support the new version, well, your website may or may not work.

Thanks for your reply Chris. So using those plug ins will eradicate the need for me to go in to the php myadmin settings on my host?

You should not have to use PHPmyadmin, but you should still try cloning it first. There's no excuse to upgrade and find the site no longer works when it is so easy to check before you upgrade.

Chris, I've tried that plug in (duplicator) and it keeps hitting an error. I have a back up of my sites files in a folder on my dektop and I have a database back up that was generated using the 'backupwordpress' plug in. Is there another way without the php my admin part? How much would you charge to do this for me? I need to update my jigoshop version on a clients site in order for another plug in (table based shipping) to perform correctly. I also want to be finished today/tomorrow :-(

Chris,
Sorry, I know I am a pain, but I can't seem to find any kind of straightforward reference to what I need to do.
I need to upgrade the Jigoshop version to the current one in order for the table based shipping product not to crash my site. The site is practically finished, other than a few aesthetics and the postcode based shipping module.
What I do not understand is what I need to do with the database I downloaded using the backupwordpress plug in once I have upgraded.
I cannot afford to lost product data. If answering the above is easier than you actually doing this for me, great. I'm kind of stuck until I figure it out (or have some cleverer kind soul educate me!).
Sorry if I am disturbing you.

Hi,
not a problem. The downloads are for backup purposes (if something happens you can restore the site). If the upgrade is sucessfull, you will not need them. In either case, you will need to test the site on a test server before making the change on the production site. If you want me to do the testing for you, I will need an admin account for the WordPress site, along with FTP access credentials.

Hi Chris,
Hope you're well this morning? I replied to you via email yesterday, to the one you listed above. Did you get that? If not, let me know and I'll resend it.
Regards and thanks for your time and patience, I genuinely appreciate it,
Lee
