Text Variation multi-combination confusion

Hello,

I'm wondering how to go about setting this up..

the site is selling prints my photographs.

- I need to have a product - a print - that has many different varieties of combination.

- I need a text variation so the photo_ID is identified and carried through to identify the print. (i use the fileName as the id). i intend to create an 'addTocart' button in the gallery / lightbox)

- the photos come in different sizes that are different prices

- the photos have an option of mountings or frames that have price variation in type, as well as the size of the previous field changing the price or the frame/mounting)

Am i right in saying that i cant use ....
- 'personalize' for the photo_ID as that is fixed for every variation of a single product?
- attribute 'text' does not appear to be able to be used as a variation?

   thanks for the reply.. i have had a go, with the skeleton theme and i really like it after comparing several carts. but i still cant get how to set it up to get what i need.

   i want a variation that has no impact on price but is carried through to the cart a photo_ID - i.e. a text entry box?

   I have tried to:
   - 'personalize' each order . But I cant do this with the personalize feature as two prints of the same variations but with different 'personalize' fields will not keep thier seperate field data.

   • so i thought the other way was to create a 'text' variation. But i cant seem to get this to appear as a variation.. Multiselects stay as attributes after clicking update, but text variations do not..

   ideas?

   i assume by your answer that jigoshop is unable too do this, there are no third party plugins available to to this, and you have no immediate plans to support this?.. if i am wrong, please correct me then i will pay $29 for a month to ask Jigoshop professionals, and receive the instructions how to adapt jigoshop to have a custom text variation..

   FYI Custom product inputs are available for other wordpress products such as 'Shopp' (via the API) & 'wootheme' (via the PRODUCT ADD-ONS extension)

   Thanks for the answer: i have purchased that plugin...

   Even if this is a free beer forum, this is not 1999 where it was in vogue to assume everyone new is a noob, and therefore mandatory to not read the original question asked, even when you probably know the answer..... Maybe that was a bit sharp, and perhaps it required me asking the same question three times in slightly different ways before i made myself perfectly clear...

   Also.... dont think i take free beer for granted.... on this forum i resolved (or provided a temp workaround) for someones else's problem with the current skeleton theme bug while waiting for an answer to my own question....

   Your posts are marked as 'support staff', 'staff' strongly suggests an employee who is receiving something less valuable than self-esteem for helping other people (i.e. cash)... It is not clear what role you guys take, may i suggest that the jigo forum renames this to some thing more obvious.. stackoverflow.com has good examples of names for 'helpers.'

   p.s. my 5 year old wants to know if that tan / teeth thing is for-real?
